Current Activities

The Roots Football Foundation is currently working with the Roots Football School, an academy accredited by the All India Football Federation with a 2 star rating which has been working with developing football in the grassroots level in Bangalore since 2009. During this period around 30 trainees have been selected for district, state and national teams as well as played for age group teams of I-League clubs. The coaching team includes AFC certified coaches, ex TFA cadets and former State, National and International level players with over 40 years of combined grassroots coaching experience.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

Providing free training and kit to talented children from underprivileged backgrounds. The trainees are also given a monthly stipend for travel to the training ground and players are also provided with medical insurance, travel, boarding and lodging during matches/ tournaments (local and outstation)
Currently around 25 trainees are supported by the Roots Football School.

COACHING CLINIC’S & WORKSHOPS

Organized a free coaching clinic on occasion of Asian Football Confederation - Grasssroots Day on May 13 & 14th, 2017. Around 165 children between the age of 5-12 years participated in the coaching clinic conducted by Roots Football coaches.

TOURNAMENTS & LEAGUES

Organized a one day tournament for Under 15 girls in league format with 8 teams
Organized an Inter Academy Tournament for Under 11, U-9 & U-7 age categories: 30 teams and 320 participants

AGE GROUP TEAM TRAINING & PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL LEAGUES

Supports the Roots Football School age group teams that participates in the All India Football Federation Under 15 & Under 13 Youth Leagues as, as well as other age group level national and state level festivals/ tournaments. The players are selected from among the academy and through scouting and trials. The additional team training is provided free of cost to the selected players. The different teams undergoes specialized training programme under the watchful eyes of a qualified coaching team, that is supported by a team of specialists which include physiotherapists, fitness trainers, sports psychologists etc. as well as supported by an administrative team that manages the operations and logistics of the teams. Currently the team training programmes are non-residential and are structured depending on the age groups (U18 to U9) to enable the trainees to manage sports as well as academics, while giving them the best opportunity and environment to compete with the best in the country.

Roots FS U-13 team finished top in the Bangalore zone and qualified for the national round in 2017-18 season.
Roots Under 15 finished champions in the inaugural KSFA Youth League - 2019.
